• how our tongues can be controlled.
TEXT REVIEW: I Kings 17:1
• There is power of God embedded in your tongue.
• It is left in your hand to use the power positively or negatively.
• Be mindful ofthe repercussion ofits unworthy usage.
LESSON OUTLINE ONE
YOUR TONGUE CAN MAKE OR MAR
The tongue can make or mar (i.e spoil) according to our memory verse. Verbal attacks by itself cannot break bones, however, speeches can inspire positively or negatively. Therefore, the tongue can do the following;
1. It can build up and it can tear apart – Proverbs 10:19,20; 15:1-4; James 3:5-8.
2. It can restore and destroy – IIKings 2: 19-22, 23-25.
3. It can bring love and also bring hatred – Exodus 4:22; Deut. 9:14.
4. It can start your journey to greatness and can end it – Exo. 3:3; Deut. 32:50-52.
LESSON OUTLINE TWO
HOW TO CONTROLYOUR TONGUE?
• Dedicate your heart, mind and tongue to the Lord – Heb. 13:5; Luke 6:45.
Be conscious ofthe words that come out of your mouth.
Be intentional about your speeches – Psalms 19:14.
Control your mood; never allow the devil hijack your thought.
Give up any act of complaining.
Speak words that encourage, comfort, edify and inspire – Eph. 4:29.
Learn to take responsibility for every word you speak. Matt. 12:36.
Meditate on positive things and God’s word – Joshua 1:8; Psalms 119:11.
ACTIVITY: Kindly allow members to pray for divine sanctification of their tongues.
