OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 22 FEBRUARY 2020

THEME: COLD OR HOT LOVE?

MEMORISE: Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Matthew 24:42

READ: MATTHEW 24:1-14

1. And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

10. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

We live in a period when many Christians are distracted from a close and vibrant relationship with God. There is so much immorality now that it is difficult to ignore it.

These are signs of the end time, however, we are not to yield to them. Though the love of many will wax cold, your love must remain strong as ever.

Though many teenagers will choose which Church to attend based on facilities like air conditioning and lighting in the Church, you should choose to focus on having an encounter with God when you go to Church.

Though many teenagers will be committing sin and still sing in the choir like it is normal, you should stay away from sin because you are a child of God.

Although many preachers may say that because of grace, you can do whatever you like, you can still commit sin and make heaven.

You should read your Bible yourself and choose to live holy because that is what God says.

Although other teenagers hang out outside the Church when the sermon is going on, you should sit inside to learn at the feet of Jesus.

Although many will hardly pray and fast, you should make prayer and fasting your lifestyle.
Don’t let your love wax cold, Jesus is coming soon. Will you be ready?

REFLECTION:
How is your love for God? Is your Christian faith now based on convenience or His will?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Numbers 7 ; Mark 4:21-41

Hymn 10

1. Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before!
Christ, the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See His banners go!

Chorus:
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before!

2. At the Sign of triumph
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise!

3. Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod;
We are not divided;
All one body we
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.

4. Onward, then, ye people,
Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour,
Unto Christ the King;
This, through countless ages
Men and angels sing.
