OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 8 SEPTEMBER 2020 TUESDAY: ADDICTED?

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 8 SEPTEMBER 2020 MEMORIZE: Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? ROMANS 6:16

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 8 SEPTEMBER 2020 BIBLE READING ROMANS 6:11-18

11. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

12. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

13. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield ourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

14. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17. But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

18. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 8 SEPTEMBER 2020 MESSAGE

Today, a lot of young ones are addicted to several things.

Some are addicted to food, drugs, novels, jewelry, internet, video games, gambling et cetera.

An addiction is an inability to stop performing an activity even when it is harmful or destroying the addict.

You need to know that there is a spirit behind every addiction.

There is an evil spirit that propels people to stick to addictions even when it’s not convenient.

For instance, a fellow who is addicted to gambling and has the exact amount that would be sufficient for a meal, would rather use the money to gamble and stay hungry.

Even when he knows that he might lose the money, he would still go ahead because the spirit would tell him, do it just this once, you might hit jackpot.

A child who is addicted to television, would have assignments and chores to perform, but rather leave everything undone and stay glued to the screen.

The consequences of addictions are very grievous. You need to break it before it destroys you completely.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 8 SEPTEMBER 2020 KEY POINT

Identify and write down the things you’re addicted to. Then determine to break away from them.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 8 SEPTEMBER 2020 HYMN

WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

1. When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way,
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

CHORUS
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away,
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay,
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
For the favour He shows,
And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
