5 THINGS TO LEARN FROM DIFFICULT TIMES NO. 4 IS A MUST READ
Life is full of challenges and ups and downs. Have you ever wondered is there are any benefits or advantages to the difficult times we experience as believers?.
As children of God, we know that we are people of purpose and everything God does for us and with us has a reason. This is not to say that every time we experience difficult times, it is brought upon us by God.
Difficult times are a product of various factors on earth. They could come due to the wickedness of someone around us, our carelessness or mistake, the state of our organization, territory or country, family factors, curses and evil, etc.
Regardless of the source of the difficulty, every believer is assured victory in Christ Jesus if they remain steadfast. We are also given tools to overcome the difficulty through prayers and study of God’s Word.
Jesus Christ never promised us a life void of challenges. We live in a fallen world and challenges must come. In fact, some challenges come specially because we are believers.
Through it all, it is important that we never forget that God loves us regardless of what the situation seems like. We must always remember and be confident in the goodness of God. And we must take every challenge to Him in prayer.
Challenges have an expiry date and with God on your side, you will overcome. But while the challenges last, we would like you to consider the 5 important lessons below that every believer should learn from difficult times.
1. DIFFICULT TIMES BUILD YOUR PATIENCE
“knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:3-4 KJV
A believer who gets everything on a platter of gold and never has to wait for anything will eventually be an impatient believer. God is more interested in our character than our comfort.
Whenever you go through hard times, you learn to wait and look up to God for help. Impatience and the desire to have it all immediately dies.
2. DIFFICULT TIMES DEVELOP YOUR DEPENDENCE ON GOD.
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2 KJV
The nature of humans is one that strays away from anything they do not see a need for. When a person doesn’t see any need to call upon God and wait on Him for help, that person is likely to go astray and walk away from God. This is a dangerous thing and as much as we hate challenges, they are the solutions to this. They help us remain with God.
3. DIFFICULT TIMES MAKE HELPS YOU TO HONOR AND APPRECIATE THE SUCCESS OF OTHER PEOPLE.
“in weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.” 2 Corinthians 11:27 KJV
You don’t know how difficult success is until you achieve it. When you have had to work hard and wait for a breakthrough, you understand better when you see people who struggle and become successful at anything. Your time of waiting is a reminder to you that the journey to overcoming in any area is not an easy one.

4. DIFFICULT TIMES CREATE MEMORIES AND EXPERIENCES
“who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4 KJV
The memories and experience from our time of challenges are powerful tools that will help sustain our success and will help us comfort and encourage people who are on that same journey today.
Without your experiences in the time of challenges, you will have no reference when encouraging people to hold on.
Our memories empower us with the experience to train others.
5. Difficult times develop your reliance on scripture
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
Every believer must make it a habit to go to scriptures in search of whatever solutions they need. When you encounter confrontations and challenges that make you dig the word of God for answers, you develop a natural instinct to go to God’s Word as your first resort for solutions. This makes you a better student of the Bible.
