WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU DO NOT FEEL LIKE A GOOD CHRISTIAN
Are there times when you do not feel like a great Christian?
You just don’t see to feel like a good believer. Maybe because of some situations surrounding your life, your lack of fervency or consistency with prayer or in church, etc. It is important to know what to do in times like this.
When you are confronted with the weariness that comes with not feeling like a good Christian, her are a few things to do.
1) UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR SALVATION IS NOT BASED ON FEELINGS
“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10 NKJV
Your salvation is based on Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and your response to it by believing, accepting, confessing with your mouth, and following him.
It is not based on how you feel.
The devil is a deceiver and can surround your life with things that make you feel like you are not saved.
You must stand on God’s word, rebuke the feeling and refuse to feel that way.
You are saved, whether you feel it or not.
2) THINK IN RETROSPECT AND REPENT
Sometimes, these feelings come because of something that has happened or something we have done.
Take some time out to think about the reason why you feel the way you do.
Have you been involved in sin? Have you been inconsistent with prayer and Bible study? Do you hold a grudge and have offence in your heart?
Did you wrong someone? Or have you put your hands into something you shouldn’t have?
Find out the reason for your current feeling and make it right by God’s Word.
3) ASK GOD TO SEARCH YOUR HEART
You may not even know why you feel the way you do but thankfully we serve a God who searches the heart.
Come before God in humility and brokenness and ask Him to search your heart and try your thoughts.
Sometimes even when you feel like you’re doing good, you can still make a prayer of surrender asking God to search you and prune your heart.
4. GO ON A RETREAT
In this post, we shared some reasons why a believer should go on a retreat.
Having this kind of feeling is one of them. Read our post on how to plan your personal retreat and engage it How To Plan A Personal Spiritual Retreat In 5 Steps
The year is coming to an end and the enemy is not relenting in his battle for our souls.
We must always be a step ahead of him by walking with God.
