Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
John 13:3-5
[3]Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
[4]He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
[5]After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Thessalonians 2:8 “so being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us”.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Learning from other people’s experience is the best teacher.
INTRODUCTION: A mentorship relationship is one in which an individual with greater experience or knowledge provides guidance to someone with less experience or knowledge. The term “mentorship” is used in both secular and Christian contexts. The story of Paul and Timothy is a good example of the mentor-mentee relationship. 2 Tim 1:6-8
STUDY GUIDE
A. WHY DO WE NEED MENTORS?
As teenagers, we need mentors because we are less experienced, and we need a more experienced person to guide us. But ultimately, I will say a child of God should make Jesus his or her No 1 mentor.1 Cor 1:11. When you follow His teachings, and are guided by His Spirit, you will not miss it. But because we still need the physical presence of people to guide us, it is good to have a mentor. However, remember that whoever you choose as your mentor is not an angel, neither are they perfect. They themselves are still work in progress.
B. READ TITUS 2:1-10 AND IDENTIFY THE DIFFERENT MENTOR-MENTEE RELATIONSHIPS IN THE TEXTS.

C. DUTIES OF A MENTOR
1. To be a good example, John 13:3-5.
2. 2 Tim 2:2
3. 1 Thess 2:8
4. 1 Tim 4:12
5. Titus 2:3-5
D. WATCH OUT FOR THESE QUALITIES IN THE PERSON YOU WANT TO CHOOSE AS YOUR MENTOR;
1. Must be a born-again Christian and filled with the Holy Spirit. 2 Cor. 6:14.
2. Must have a good testimony. I Tim 3:1-5.
3. Needs to have more experience and knowledge.
4. Needs to have good listening skills
5. Must be self-disciplined.
6. Teenagers to add more.
DISCUSS: A mentor is not a coach; they serve as guide to their mentee.
CONCLUSION: Mentoring is a two-way relationship. To maximize the benefits of mentorship, both the mentor and the mentee must be dedicated to the relationship. Mentors can impart insight into your life and act as catalysts for your career, spiritual, and personal development. So, choose wisely.
