TOPIC: LEARN TO APPRECIATE OTHERS
BIBLE TEXT: 1 Thessalonians 5:13-16

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 12:10
[10]Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

LESSON AIM: To teach the teens to appreciate others

CENTRAL TRUTH: A thank heart appreciates people

INTRODUCTION
Appreciation is recognition of the good qualities of someone or something, admiring certain things about someone and you let the person know. It is a form of valuing and making them feel welcome. When we appreciate, it is a form of worship and adoration to God.

STUDY GUIDE
A. How can we develop the character of appreciation. From our text:
1. Hold our people in the highest honour, i.e think highly of others
2. Love people wholeheartedly
3. Live in peace with each other
4. Encourage the disheartened
5. Help the weak
6. Be patient with everyone
7. Do not pay back wrong for wrong
8. Strive to do what is good to each other and for everyone
9. Finally, rejoice always
The opposite of appreciation is disrespect which stems from a proud and unthankful heart. Pride will not allow you to appreciate others because All you will be thinking about is yourself, what you have done or what you can do.

B. DISCUSSION: Let us discuss these questions

1. Are you a person that naturally let’s people know that they are worthy? If so, what happens when others are not appreciative of you?

2. What part does appreciation play in your relationship with church members, friends co-workers and family? Have you thanked people you know or with whom you work with buy your words as well as your personal example?

3. What happens to your relationship with God, with others, and with the opportunities God gives you when you neglect to be thankful and appreciative?

CONCLUSION: The act of appreciating people around us is not something that we are born with. We learn it. Some people learn it very early in life by virtue of the family they are born into. Maybe your parents are such that really appreciate people and as a child you just grow into it. Some discover along the line that they need to learn it.

LESSON FORTY TWO(42)
TOPIC: DESIRE THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
BIBLE TEXT: Galatians 5:22-23

MEMORY VERSE: Galatians 5:22-23

[22]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[23]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

LESSON AIM: To teach them to desire the Fruit of the Spirit

CENTRAL TRUTH: You need the Fruit of the Spirit to live a successful Christian life.

INTRODUCTION
Fruit is often a symbol associated with abundance, fruitfulness, fertility and harvest. As Christians, we must allow the Holy Spirit to bear His fruits in our lives. It refers to the natural product of a living thing. Paul used “fruit” to help us understand the product of the Holy Spirit, who lives inside every believer.

The Fruit of the Spirit is produced by the Spirit, not by the Christian. The word is singular, showing that “fruit” is a unified whole, not independent characteristics. As we grow, all the characteristics of Christ will be manifested in our lives.

Yet, like physical fruits need time to grow, the fruit of the Spirit will not ripen in our lives overnight. Like a successful gardener must battle against weeds to enjoy the sweet fruit they desire, we must constantly work to rid our lives of the “weeds” of our old sinful nature that want to choke out the work of the Spirit.

STUDY GUIDE:
What are the fruits mentioned? Teenagers are to identify them and in their own words, write out the meaning of each fruits and what they are meant for:

DISCUSSION: Fruit is the SWEET and FLESHY PRODUCT of a tree or plants that CONTAINS SEEDS and can be eaten as FOOD. In groups 4-5, teenagers should discuss the words in capital in relation to the fruit of the Spirit.

INVITATION/APPLICATION: Remember the fruit we are talking about is one whole fruit. I’d you live, the you must be kind and good. If you have good temperance and self control, then people must see you as a person of peace and joy.

CONCLUSION: Matthew 7:16-18 says” You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bears good fruit; but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, neither can a bad tree bear good fruit.” You cannot pretend to be what you are not because your fruit will show. So, desire the fruit if the spirit.

LESSON FORTY THREE(43)
TOPIC: TESTIFY TO THE GLORY OF GOD
BIBLE TEXT: Revelation 12:10-11

MEMORY VERSE: Revelation 12:11
[11]And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

LESSON AIM: To teach the Teens to always share testimony of God’s goodness to others

CENTRAL TRUTH: Testimonies bring glory to the name of God.

INTRODUCTION
Testimony is a public declaration of what God has done for us. As believers we must realize that one of the greatest weapon we have against hell is our testimony. When you come out to share a testimony, you are acknowledging God; the giver of the testimony and at the same time put the devil to shame.

STUDY GUIDE

A Why must we share our testimonies: using the story of the Samaritan woman in John 4.
1. God is glorified.
2. God is moved to do more.
3. Testimonies encourage others
4. It builds their faith
5. It removes fear and build courage
6. It is a powerful to reach out to unbelievers
7. We become overcomes

B What are the marks of a good testimony?
1. Testifier’s motive must be to glorify God, not man or himself. It must be Christ-centred.
2. It must be straight to the point.
3. It must be absolutely true. Do not say what didn’t happen.
4. It is good to share your testimony as soon as possible. Do not delay. It shows you appreciate what God did.

DISCUSSION: Why don’t teenagers come out to share testimonies in church? Discuss reasons and find solution.

INVITATION/APPLICATION: Giving testimony is a sign of gratitude to God. Make it a part of you to always share your testimony thereby telling God that you are grateful.

CONCLUSION: A sincere, heartfelt, burning word of testimony will do more to convince men and women of the power of the Gospel than all the arguments and reasoning in the world.

LESSON FORTY FOUR(44)
TOPIC: A CHANNEL OF BLESSING
BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 12:1-3

MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 12:2
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

LESSON AIM: To let them know why and how they can be channels of blessings to others

CENTRAL TRUTH: You can be a channel of blessing to your generation.

INTRODUCTION
A channel is a medium or a passage through which one thing is linked with another. For God to bless us, He needs a channel or a medium. God will not come down physically to relate with us. He wily rather use man to bless man. God said to Abraham “…….you shall be a blessing……..in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed”

STUDY GUIDE
A. Conditions to be a channel of blessings to others: God wants everyone to be a channel if blessing. However, there are some conditions that must be satisfied for God to make us one.
1. We must have a relationship with God. Abraham had a good one “and God said to him…………….”
2. We must be will to be used of God.
3. We must have a love for people
4. We must be clean vessels. God cannot use filthy vessels. 2 Tim. 2:21

B. Factors that can prevent one from being a channel of blessing:
1. Lack of love. 1 John 2:10
2. Poor attitude
3. Bad temperament. James 1:20
4. Keeping bad company 2 Cor. 6:14
5. Sin
6. Stinginess. Prov. 19:17

DISCUSSION: Have you been a channel of blessing before? Share your experience with us.

INVITATION/APPLICATION: Have you ever wondered why God may not be blessing you as much as you think He should? It could be because you’ve become a reservoir for God’s blessings, rather than a channel. God has put those blessings in your life so that you can bless others. If you hold them to yourself, they will rot and you life will stink.

CONCLUSION: God promised to bless Abraham so that he can be a blessing. If you bless people with what God has given you, He will bless you with more and more.
