MEMORY VERSE: Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment
Matthew 5:21

BIBLE PASSAGE: Mathew 27:3-5, Job 14:7

Matthew 27:3-5
3  Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What [is that] to us? see thou [to that].

5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Job 14:7
For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

INTRODUCTION:
Suicide is the act of killing oneself intentionally. The Bible views suicide as equal to murder because it is considered self-murder. Exodus 20:13 says “Thou shalt not kill.” Self murder then is obviously forbidden by God. Don’t yield to Satan out of sheer despair, don’t let him get you into a guilt trap where he can persuade you that you are so unworthy, that suicide is all you deserve. You were made by God. You are not on your own. It is not your life, so don’t take it.

JOB HELD UNTO GOD DESPITE THESE AFFLICTIONS
Job 1:3, 14-17. Job lost all his possessions same day
Job 1:2, 18-19. Job lost his seven sons and three daughters in a building collapse.

Despite all these, Job did not commit suicide rather, he held unto God the more. Job 1:20-22, 2:9-10. And eventually, God restored all his possessions double folds and he had again seven sons and three daughters. Job 42:10-14.

BIBLE CHARACTERS THAT COMMITTED SUICIDE

1. Abimelech in Judges 9:50-55

2. King Saul in 1 Samuel 31:3-4

3. Saul’s Armour-bearer in 1 Samuel 31:5

4. Ahitophel in 2 Samuel 17:23

5. Zimri in 1 Kings 16:15-20.

6. Judas in Matthew 27:3-5

*CONSEQUENCES OF SUICIDE*

1. It is a sin against humanity and God and no sinner would go unpublished.

2. It is a sin without remedy in that the victim loses his/her life.

3. Suicide victims would be treated as murderers and sent to hell.

4. The victims leave their loved ones in sorry and pain.

CONCLUSION:
Job in Job13:15 says “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.” God, Your Maker, made you for a purpose. You may not feel like it right now, but you are His and He has given you the gift of life for a divine purpose.
Don’t reject the gift He has graciously given you. Instead, try to find out the reason He has given it to you.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Thank God for the salvation of your soul.
2. Every spirit of suicide, loose your hold over me and my loved ones in Jesus Name.
3. Pray for the rapid growth of RCCG spiritually, numerically and materially.
4. Pray for Daddy G.O and his family.
5. Personal prayer requests.
