TOPIC: THE MAN CALLED JESUS

OPENING PRAYER: Father please let all nations bow to the knowledge of Jesus.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members on how to allow Jesus to handle everything in a challenging times like this
MEMORY VERSE: “In the beginning was the WORD and WORD was with God and the WORD was God.” John 1:1
BIBLE TEXT: John 1:1-12
[1]In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2]The same was in the beginning with God.
[3]All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
[4]In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5]And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[6]There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[7]The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[8]He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
[9]That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
[10]He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
[11]He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
[12]But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
LESSON INTRODUCTION: Our discussion for today is to find out and know Jesus better. The Man Jesus who is the Christ, His mission and His purpose on earth. Isaiah 7:14, prophesied His birth and in Matthew 18:18-23 that prophecy was fulfilled. In Isaiah 9:6. It was prophesied that He will come as a baby, Micah 5:2 prophesied that He will be born in Bethlehem. All these prophecies were all fulfilled and confirmed.
LESSON AIM: To make members understand who this Man called Jesus is
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to;
1. Know who Jesus is
2. Know Jesus as the WORD OF GOD
TEXT REVIEW: John 1:1-12
• All things were made by Him and nothing was made without Him
• In Christ there is life and the light shines in darkness.
• No darkness can extinguish the light produced by Jesus.
• Jesus is the true light to everyone.
• All who believed in Him, and accepted Him have right to sonship.
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: WHO IS JESUS?
(a) He is the creator of all that have existed and still existing. Genesis 1:3-27, Col. 1:16,17
(b) He is the light that overcome all darkness. John 1:9
(c) He is solution to all problems, the great provider. Luke 9:13-17.
(d) He has provision for any form of sickness or infirmity, i.e. healing power. Luke 6:19.
(e) He can disgrace all those trying to disgrace you. Matt. 17:24-27.
(f) He has power to cancel death warrant issued to execute evil judgement over you. John 8:3-11
(g) He is the Anointed One assigned to do us good, deliver the oppressed. Acts 10:38.
(h) He is the Son of God that took away the sin of the whole world. John 10:15, Mark 14:51,52, Luke 1:32, 35
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: JESUS, THE WORD OF GOD
John 1:1-14 makes it clear that Jesus Christ is the WORD OF GOD.
WHAT DOES THAT MEANS?
1. Jesus is spoken Word of God Psalm 33:9
2. Word of God that cancels what enemies are saying contrary to our faith.
3. Word of God that regulates human’s existence
4. Word of God that makes our existence fulfilling and accomplishing Lam. 3.37
5. In Jesus dwell the fullness of Godhead that means any pronouncement through Him, it is done. Colossians 2:9
SUMMARY: The man Jesus is God.
CONCLUSION: Engage Jesus to get your dream come through and the WORD of GOD to make your world a worthy dwelling place.
PRAYER POINTS
a. Father, let your spoken Word order me succeed.
b. Father, cancel all evil utterances saying contrary to my greatness
c. Father, regulates my life by your mercy.
d. Father, make my existence on earth fulfilling and accomplishing Lam 3:37.
e. Father, throughout this year, let me enjoy your grace and mercy.
