PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members on last week topic on Christian virtue and how it can help believers in their walk with God.
MEMORY VERSE: “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.” Philippians 4:4
BIBLE TEXT: Psalms 34:8
[8]O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
LESSON INTRODUCTION: Is it possible to be joyful in the midst of sorrow? Is it possible to be exceeding joyful in all tribulations, no matter the circumstances of life? The answer to all these questions is Yes because in Nehemiah 8:10, the bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength, strength is drawn whenever we are full of joy, strength to excel, to succeed, to overcome all manners of trials and challenges. God wants us to be joyful at all times according to Philippians 4:4 no matter what we are going through.
LESSON AIM: To make members understand that joy goes to the wise and it brings strength to attain desired results.
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to;
1. Understand that there is joy to the wise
2. Know that joy brings strength.
Text Review: Psalms 34:8
I. Taste and see that the Lord is good.
II. Blessed is the man that trust in God.
Lesson Outline One: JOY TO THE WISE
There is a relationship between wisdom and joy, we see this truth in Ecclesiastes 8:1b. The reason why the wise possess joy is that joyous state stimulates joy to the people around them and no to themselves alone. 2 Cor.2:3. Only the wise can have the understanding of joy
WHO ARE THE WISE?
– Someone that makes good decision about life to live.
– Someone that deplores experience garnered to effect positive changes.
– Someone that can offer sound advice.
– Someone that gain knowledge through God’s word and applies its truth through His perspective.
– Someone that win souls, Proverbs 11:30
– Someone that desire the return of our Lord Jesus. 2 Timothy 4:8
In life, we will have tribulation, hard times, storm of life will rise, sorrow, weeping, the wind will blow, difficulty, things won’t go as you planned it. But the things God has provided for us in the hard times of this is JOY. Psalm 30:5
Lesson Outline Two: JOY YOUR STRENGTH
Nehemiah 8:11 declares that the joy of the Lord is your strength. Joy is an emotion everyone wants but which remains elusive for many. In a world that often dark and grim, how can we look to God as a source of Joy? And how can that joy strengthen us to persevere through life’s trials.
WAYS TO MAKE THE JOY OF THE LORD YOUR STRENGTH.
– Always do want Holy Spirit inspires you to do. Romans 15:13
– Be devoted to divine principles or goals.
– Express gratitude for God’s gifts. Eccl.3:12-13
– Get absolutely immersed in all things of God.
– Be with God’s people. Acts 2:42
– Make God your highest Joy
SUMMARY: We to always rejoice in the Lord
CONCLUSION: Joy is a strong feeling of happiness, a manifestation of happiness through an outward rejoicing or excitement. To the people who don’t know Jesus those definition is true, but to the Christians, something different applies. The outward rejoicing comes from an inward satisfaction that I know Jesus Christ. James 2:2-4
