TOPIC: BE THE LIGHT

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please release the power to me to remain light to the world.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members about our actions and reaction when we are under pressure.

John 8:12
[12]Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Matthew 5:16
[16]Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
LESSON INTRODUCTION: As born again children of God, we are expected to be the light wherever we find ourselves and one of the things that God hates is for you to refuse to shine once. He has received you as the light such refusal to shine attracts great punishment. Matt.5:14-16, Genesis 3:16-19.
LESSON AIM: To make members understand the need to remain as light in this challenging world, and keeping ones relevance as image of God
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to;
1. Reveal to the world that Jesus is TRUE LIGHT to the whole world.
2. Know that as believers their light must shine wherever they go.
TEXT REVIEW: John 8:12, Matthew 5:16
a. Jesus is the light of the world and
b. Anyone that walk with Him will not walk in darkness but have the light of life.
c. Out light as believers must shine before men.
d. In shining as light, the world must see your good works
e. In shining, we are to glorify Almighty God.
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: JESUS IS LIGHT
✔Jesus is the light that chases away all forms of darkness. John 1:5
We are all blind men, walking in a darkness world, and so we have to follow Him to turn our darkness into darkness into light. John 8:12, 2 Samuel 22:29, Isaiah 9:2
✓ Jesus is the light that bring salvation to all people regardless of the situation they might be. John 9:1-7
✔ Jesus is the brightness of God’s glory that shines upon our hearts increasing us in the knowledge of God flushing out every thought and imaginations that is not of God. Hebrews 1:3, 2 Corinthians 4:6, 10:5.
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE
a. Keep your light burning to turn every darkness in and around you into light. Psa. 18:28.
b.. Don’t allow the flesh to overcome you but clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ.- the light personified-Romans 13:14.
c. Choose not the ways of violent and devious persons for it is abominable to the land-Proverbs 3:31-32
d. God expects you to exhibit His nature wherever you find yourself and chase away represent darkness in your life, family, town, place of work, etc. – John 1:5.
e. You must turn away from sinful living so that God may hear and answer your prayers. 2 chronicles 7:14
f. For you are raised to be extraordinary lights to your generation, you must come out of darkness so as not to lose your throne. -2 Kings 5:20-27, Colossians 4:14, 2 Tim.4:10.
SUMMARY: Believers are to reveal to the world that Jesus is TRUE LIGHT to the whole world, we need to remain as light in this challenging world, and keeping ones relevance as Image of God
CONCLUSION: God expects us to represent Him as the light wherever we may find ourselves but it must be noted that failure to do so attracts great consequences-1 Samuel 13:13-14.
PRAYER POINT:
1. Father, chases away all forms of darkness out every home and nations.
2. Father, deliver all people walking in a darkness across the world.
3. Father, create path of followership to all members in RCCG.
4. Lord, turn darkness in every home into light. John 8:12.
5. Father, kill every thought and imaginations that is contrary to Your will.
GOLDEN DIET FOR THE WEEK
MONDAY: Don’t allow the flesh to overcome you but clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus.
TUESDAY: Choose not the ways of violent and devious persons.
WEDNESDAY: God expects you to exhibit His nature wherever you find yourself.
THURSDAY: You must turn away from sinful living so that God may hear and answer you.
FRIDAY: For you are raised to be extraordinary lights.
SATURDAY: Come out of darkness so as not to lose your throne.
SUNDAY: Our light as believers must shine before men.
