For bodily exercise profitteth little:
MESSAGE:
Read – Open Heavens 8 November 2019
I know many people quote our memory verse for today to mean that we should not not exercise. The Bible does not say that physical exercise profits nothing, it says it profits little. Little as its profit may be compared to spiritual exercise, it is important.
Physical exercise will keep you fit and healthy to work for God better. Some Christians fall sick easily because they hardly exercise, the non Christian will then be wondering why someone who claims to be serving the Great Healer will be falling sick.
Exercise makes your brain sharper, which will help in academics.
Being involved in sports enhances your sense of healthy competition. As a teenager, you have a lot of energy, rather than exert that energy into mundane things, put it into sports.
If you are involved in sports, you will have less time to think of or do sinful things. Sports can also open doors for you to visit new places and even apply for certain scholarships and benefits.
ACTION POINT:
Find a sport you like and get involved
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Jeremiah 49-50, Hebrews 5
Hymn 11
1. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.
2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.
3. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.
4. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.
