Open Heavens for Teens 7 June 2019 – Pride is Dangerous
Memorise: “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” – Philippians 2:12
Read: Hebrews 5:8-9
8. Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9. And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Bible In One Year: 2 Chronicles 23-25, John 16:16-33
MESSAGE:
One major undoing of the Church in Laodicea was pride. Lucifer was created perfect in beauty and also had position and power from God, but the day he became proud of what he had (as if they came from him) and began to rub shoulders with God, God simply pushed aside all His investments in Lucifer and began to deal with him based on his pride.
If you are carrying out exploits for God but you are proud, don’t be surprised if God has no record of all your service, but mentions your pride. Also Read – Open Heaven 7 June 2019
Do away with pride now before it erodes all your gains! Everyone who is proud I’d indirectly saying he or she is self sufficient and does not need God for anything. A proud person treats God like a mate; he shares in God’s glory.
If you truly have respect and honour for God, you will be humble. Are you proud? Do you think too highly of yourself?
Do you look at others and think that you are better than them? Do you think that you deserve better than others? Remember that the Bible says that pride comes before a fall. Beware.
Prayer Point:
Father, please take pride away from me.
Hymn 10:
What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful?
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.
