MEMORISE: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. Philippians 3:18

Read: Philippians 3:17-19

17. Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

18. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

19. Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Our text for today talks about some people who were so carried away by their cravings that they were practically worshipping what they craved. Thus is

Is there something or someone you are obsessed with that you cannot do without? Is there something you want so badly that you can knowingly sin against God to get it?

Beware, you may just be practicing idolatry.

Your belly is your god if you cannot fast for even one day.

If, when you wake up in the morning, the first thing you pick is your phone while you can go a while day without reading your Bible, Social media is probably your god.

If you have a friend that you are always thinking about all day and cannot do without, that fellow is your god.

A lot of people are idol worshippers without even knowing it. The best way to deal with an idol is to stay away from it till you are no longer obsessed with it.

Can you delete the Social Media apps on your phone for one month?

Ezekiel 36-37; 1 Peter 3

Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
