OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 30TH THURSDAY JANUARY 2020
THEME: PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
MEMORISE: Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
READ: Luke 18:1-8
1. And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2. Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3. And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5. Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8. I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

MESSAGE:
There are some counsels in the Bible that are a bit difficult to take.
But everything in the Bible is inspired by the person who loves you more than any other, so the counsel is always for your good.
When the Bible says pray without ceasing, you wonder “How is that possible? Won’t I sleep?”.
God isn’t saying you shouldn’t rest, what He is saying is that prayer should become so much a part of you that you cannot go five minutes without praying. No matter what you are doing, He should constantly be in your mind.
It is possible even when you are asleep.
You may ask, “If I am to pray without ceasing, what will I be telling God for that long?“.
Everything, tell Him everything. Tell Him when you feel tired, tell Him when you are hungry, ask Him how He feels about whatever you are doing at the moment.
Prayer is communication with God and He so much desires to commune with you at all times. Isn’t that a blessing?

HYMN 9
1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful?
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.
