OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 29TH JANUARY 2020
THEME: WHAT KIND OF WORDS?
MEMORISE: Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
Colossians 4:6
READ: JAMES 3:2-10
2.For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3.Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4.Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5.Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6.And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7.For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8.But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9.Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10.Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

MESSAGE:
“Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man“.
Matthew 15:11
Your words go along way in defining who you are. Someone can spend five minutes with you and realise the kind of a person you are, based on the kind of words you express.
This is why you have to speak words that you will like to be defines by. If you speak harshly to people, you are a harsh fellow.
If you speak kindly to people, you are a kind fellow. If you are always using street slangs, you will be perceived as a street boy/girl.
If you are always using Christian phrase, you will be seen as a child of God.
You may never get the chance to introduce yourself the way you want to the people you meet, so you should always choose your words carefully because they form a part of your introduction.
KEY POINT:
Based on your words, how do people see you?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Exodus 19-21 ; Matthew 20:1-16
Hymn 3
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
