OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 14TH APRIL 2020: NEGOTIATING GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS
MEMORISE: For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Isaiah 66:2
READ: 1 SAMUEL 15:17-23
And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?
And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
God’s word and commands are not for negotiation but for prompt obedience. God’s word is no ordinary word, it is filled with power to accomplish that which it is sent (Isaiah 55:11).
Hence, you are too small to ignore it. For your own good, when you get an instruction from Him, obey promptly.
It is a dangerous thing not to obey God’s instructions like King Saul did. The Holy Spirit left him and demons took over his life when he began to negotiate God’s instructions.
Evil spirits inhabited him and made him experience insanity. If God has given you an instruction, it’s in your best interest to obey promptly. Is there an instruction from God in the Bible that you keep disobeying?
I advice you to repent today. When the president of a nation issues an instruction, nobody dares disobey. How much more the President of presidents?
Ask God for the spirit of obedience so that you will never disobey His instructions again.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 SAMUEL 15-16; LUKE 14:25-35
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
