OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS 8TH AUGUST 2019

THEME: WHO IS YOUR COUNSELLOR?

MEMORISE:

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5

Read: 2 Kings 7:1-2

Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

MESSAGE

Whenever you are in trouble and you need help, who do you turn to?

It is good that you turn to your parents, pastor or a trusted teacher in school, however the best counsellor you can have is God, He has unlimited knowledge, not only of the past, but of the future.

Sometimes your parents don’t just seem to understand you, sometimes the Pastor seems to spiritual to get you, but Jesus understands you perfectly well and knows exactly what you need.

Don’t be too shy or afraid to ask Him anything, and I mean ANYTHING.

Matthew 10:29 says that Jesus’ eyes are always on the sparrow. If He can be watching over an ordinary bird, how much more you who He made in His image.

Many times when need counsel concerning which school to pick, which course to choose or how to convince your parents concerning something, He is watching you and hoping that ask Him so that He can direct you, but many times you don’t.

I have had many instances where I did not know what to do, but every time I ask Him, He always gives me the wisest answer.

ACTION POINT:

Make it a habit to always for God’s advice concerning any issue as from today.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

Psalm 82-84, Romans 8:19-39

Hymn 14
1. O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and
Human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue
Proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come!
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Father’s Promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2. The long, long night is past;
The morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail
And fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills
The day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

3. Lo, the great Kings of Kings,
With healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full
Deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells
The song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

4. O boundless love divine!
How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell
The matchless grace divine-
That I, a child of hell,
Should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come!
