MESSAGE:
Read – Open Heavens 29 November 2019
God hates pride. The future of the proud is not a good one at all. If you don’t believe me, ask King Herod (Acts 12:23).
The people were comparing him with God and he did not stop them, he accepted the praise and right in front of those that were praising him, he fell and worms ate him up. If you still don’t think the proud don’t have a bright future, ask Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:30-33).
Because he had achieved a few things, he became proud and found himself in the bush eating grass like a beast for seven years. The master of all proud people is the devil (Isaiah 14:12-15).
Because he was the most beautiful archangel, it got into his head and he decided to exalt himself, even above God. He was thrown out of heaven and his future is in the lake of fire.
James 4:6 says that God exalts the humble but resists the proud. Believe me honestly, anyone who God resists is finished. Make sure you do everything possible never to be proud if you want a bright future.
KEY POINT:
God resists the proud
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Ezekiel 41-42, 2 Peter 1
Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
