OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
FOR TEENS 26 JULY 2019 FRIDAY
THEME: REPELLING CORRECTION?
MEMORISE: He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Proverbs 29:1
Read: Proverbs 29:1
He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
MESSAGE:
It is a very dangerous thing to repel correction. How do you react when people correct you?
Do you immediately attack the fellow or you take to the correction?
Those who respond to correction by attacking the person correcting them will soon realise that nobody wants to correct them anymore.
They may enjoy not being corrected by anyone, but the path to destruction has already started.

On the other hand, those who listen to correction and change their ways will always keep getting better.
Many people feel that taking correction from people makes them look vulnerable. This is very wrong, it is repelling correction that actually makes you look vulnerable. It is only emotional stable people that can correct in good faith.
Take a cue from Jesus, He did not wait for someone to tell Him how they felt about Him, He asked them by Himself. He was not afraid to hear a negative response because He was emotional stable.
KEY POINT:
Ask someone that you know will not lie to you what they think you need to change about yourself.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Psalm 47-49, Acts 26
Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey
