Movies are very powerful. They are powerful because they replicate reality without being real. In a movie, a man can jump from a skyscraper and land safely and everything will look real.
If you don’t know better, you may try the same thing and remember on your way down that even Jesus rejected the devil’s offer to jump down a tall building.
This is why you have to be careful of what movies you see. The pictures stick to your mind. If you are always watching movies with violent scenes, it is only a matter of time before you want to practice what you have seen.
There are things you shouldn’t feed your mind on at all. Your mind is like a camera, whatever it sees and dwells on will soon be printed into reality.
Jacob understood this principle, so he put plain coloured animals constantly in front of the dotted tree, before long, plain sheep reproduced dotted sheep.
What you constantly feed your mind with is what you will produce. Watch films that inspire you, biographies of men you can learn from, Christian films that replay Bible stories.
These kind of films are beneficial while others may entertain but leave dangerous side effects.
KEY POINT:
What you constantly feed your mind on is what you will produce
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Micah 1-3 ; Revelation 10
Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
