OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS 15TH DECEMBER 2019: DANGER OF LOVING THE WORLD
MEMORISE: For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1 John 2:16
READ: 2 TIMOTHY 4:10-11
10.For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11.Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
MESSAGE:
There are many Christians who value the things of the world so much that they are actually more canal than spiritual.
Some Christians love fashion so much that some times they dress indecently just to look fashionable, some it is the latest phone that they love so much, and will lie so as to get the money to buy that phone.
If you don’t watch these worldly desires, you will soon realise that you have backslidden from the faith.
Can you sell your phone so as to contribute the money for a need in your church? Can you dress down so that it will be easier to preach to certain village people?
Can you leave a rural area for a week without electricity or internet so as to win souls for Christ? Demas’ love for the world must have started little by little until it took him over and he left the brethren completely.
Check those things that you love before they take you away from Christ.
REFLECTION:
Is there anything you cannot let go for Christ?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Amos 4-6 ; REVELATION 6
HYMN 5
1. Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before!
Christ, the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See His banners go!
Chorus
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before!
2. At the Sign of triumph
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise!
3. Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod;
We are not divided;
All one body we
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.
4. Onward, then, ye people,
Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour,
Unto Christ the King;
This, through countless ages
Men and angels sing.
