BENEFITS OF PRAYER FOR THE BELIEVER
It is a common saying that prayer is the key. This is true. Jesus Christ taught his disciples to pray because he knew they’d need it to survive and maximize their Christian experience here on earth.
Prayer is one of the weapons for Maintaining Victory over Satan also known as The Whole Amour of God, listed in Ephesians 6:10-18. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” Ephesians 6:18 NKJV
The scripture emphasized “praying ALWAYS”. This draws to our attention the fact that prayer must be consistent and continuous in the life of the believer.
Every week in this month, we will be looking into the subject of prayer through one post per week. Scriptures tell us that we ought always to pray and not faint. If we must pray effectively, then we must understand prayer and its dynamics well. Each of these posts weekly in the month of May will help us do that. Today, we’ll be looking at the benefits of prayer for the believer.
5 BENEFITS OF PRAYER FOR THE BELIEVER
1) COMMUNICATION WITH GOD.
Prayer is the primarily route through which believers communicate with God. This is the greatest benefits for believers because, through prayers, you get to speak with ou God and father, the creator of the universe. This is powerful because, communicating with God grants you access to the wisdom of God and the peace of God.
If you have not been praying before, you should begin to do that because God wants to hear from you and he is the best person to confide in.
2) GROWTH AND TRANSFORMATION OF THE BELIEVER
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,” Jude 1:20 NKJV
Prayer is a spiritual act that makes for the growth and transformation of the believer. When you pray, you are being built and strengthened and you are turned into another man – a better man.
Prayer makes you evolve into a better version of yourself. “As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.” Luke 9:29 NKJV
Prayer builds the believer and can turn a weak, timid believer into a strong and bold one.
3) MAKING REQUESTS TO GOD AND OBTAINING PROMISES
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6
Prayer is the authorised way to make our requests know unto God. When you have requests and pressing needs, rather than complain, pray. The Bible says “Is any man afflicted, let him pray!” Prayer is the biblical response to challenges, problems, and want.
4) TO ESTABLISH AUTHORITY ON EARTH:
“You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.” Job 22:28 NKJV
Jesus Christ has given authority through his name and his Word. Through prayers, the believer exercises this dominion and authority over darkness and evil, making decrees and creating possibilities in the place of prayer.
“Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you:” Numbers 14:28 NKJV
5) FOR WARFARE AND INTERCESSION:
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16 NKJV
The weapons of our warfare in this kingdom are not spears and bows. They’re spiritual and mighty through God. Prayer is a weapon for warfare. Do you need to fight for your life, family, marriage, job, finances, health? Fight through prayers first.
Every believer must submit themselves to the ministry of prayer. In this season, you must obtain the grace to pray.
