5 WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILDREN GROW IN FAITH

5 WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILDREN GROW IN FAITH

Parenting in this generation is becoming more and more demanding and difficult because of the different ways the enemy is using the media to influence people negatively.

As a Christian parent, you should understand that God trusts you to be a Steward over the life of your children and you must be found faithful. Even though the enemy seems wise in His antics, God is wiser and when we follow His Word and principles about parenting, we can get it right.

If you have not been intentional about helping your children grow in their faith in Jesus Christ, it is not to late to start. Even if you are a new parent, the five tips below will set you on the right track.

The world as we know it is coming to an end and this is evident in the different negative signs and innovations that are becoming the trend.

Share this post with other parents and save it for yourself so that you can refer to it often.

1. PRAY FOR THEM

“…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”‭‭James‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Prayer is a powerful tool that is useful and powerful for all areas of life and that includes matters of your family. You can pray for your children even before they are born. You should pray for your children when they seem to be rebelling and even when they seem to be doing great and walking on the right path, you should still rise in your office as a parent and pray for them.

2. ENCOURAGE THEM TO SPEND TIME WITH GOD

“…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭11:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is good for your children to serve God because they see you doing so. But what’s even better is for them to get to know God and have a relationship with Him for themselves. This way, they do not serve Him because of you anymore but because they Know Him. This helps create strong convictions and unbending faith in them.

3. TAKE THEM ALONG WITH YOU TO CHURCH

Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There are Christian parents who do not deem it fit to take their kids along with them to church. This is wrong and setting a very faulty and shaky foundation for the Christian walk of that child.
Take your children along with you to church. Let them grow up to see consistency in God’s House as a habit. Beyond your teachings to them at home, there are many things they’ll learn from listening to God’s Word in church and being around other believers.

4. INTRODUCE THEM TO GREAT CHRISTIAN MEDIA CONTENT

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We’re in a world of media and every child has access to one form of media or the other. Although the media has lots of negative information and content that can harm the minds of children, there are also many great Christian content that are edifying and will help form Christ in children. Be diligent to find such content that are fun and still edifying for your children and be intentional about the media they consume. Media can come in form of books, tv shows, plays, music, movies, videos, and so on.

5. LET THEM BE AROUND GODLY FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Iron sharpeneth iron; So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are more likely to imitate and act like the people we spend time with. It is important that you have godly friends and a great church family. Being around such people and make your children spend time around them too will help them build meaningful godly friendships that edify each other.

Parents must equip themselves for this parenting journey. Parenting is learned and you cannot give what you don’t have. Parents must learn first from the Holy Spirit who is the greatest teacher on how to love their kids, be patient, forgiving, tolerant…etc. and also read parenting books, videos and learn from godly parenting groups. Example of one is “The intentional parenting” group on social media. There you learn and interact with mothers/fathers with more experience than you and you equip yourself mentally, emotionally and otherwise. May God help us to be goodly parents and raise Godly children in Jesus name.… Read more »
